Introduction: At Prospect Training, we acknowledge the significance of digital technologies and the internet in enhancing the learning and personal development of our students. This eSafety and Acceptable Use Policy outlines our commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and responsible digital environment for all members of our community.

Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to provide clear guidelines on the acceptable use of digital devices and internet resources within Prospect Training. It aims to protect individuals from online risks and ensure that digital technology is used to enhance learning without compromising safety and wellbeing.

Scope: This policy applies to all students, staff, and any individuals accessing digital technologies and the internet at Prospect Training facilities or using Prospect Training-owned digital resources.

Guidelines and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible Use: All Users must:
    • Students most only use digital technologies and the internet for educational purposes and personal development.
    • Respect copyright laws and not use software or content illegally.
    • Protect their privacy and not disclose personal information without appropriate consent.
  2. Safety and Security:
    • Users should be aware of online risks and report any uncomfortable or dangerous situations to the manging director.
    • Personal devices used in the facility must have up-to-date security software.
    • Passwords must be strong and kept confidential.
  3. Cyberbullying:
    • Cyberbullying in any form is unacceptable and will be treated with the same seriousness as any other form of bullying.
    • Victims of cyberbullying should report incidents immediately to managing director.
  4. Content Filtering and Monitoring:
    • Prospect Training employs filtering and monitoring systems to prevent access to inappropriate content.
    • Attempts to bypass these filters or monitoring tools are strictly prohibited.
  5. Social Media Use:
    • Use of social media during educational time should be relevant to learning activities and will be appropriately supervised.
    • Posting or sharing content that could harm the reputation of individuals or Prospect Training is not permitted.
  6. Consequences of Misuse:
    • Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including, but not limited to, restriction of internet access, confiscation of devices, and, in severe cases, exclusion from the programme.
  7. Education and Training:
    • Prospect Training will provide ongoing education and training for students and staff on eSafety and responsible use of technology.
  8. Review and Evaluation:
    • This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to respond to new challenges and technologies.

Legislative Framework: Our eSafety and Acceptable Use Policy is guided by the following UK legislation:

  • Data Protection Act 2018: Ensures the protection of personal data and privacy of individuals.
  • Communications Act 2003: Addresses unlawful activities online, including offensive and threatening communications.
  • Computer Misuse Act 1990: Criminalises unauthorised access to computer systems and data.
  • Equality Act 2010(Updated 2024): Protects individuals from discrimination, harassment, and victimisation, including online.
